Foster Opportunities
Want to know whether a chinchilla is right for you and your family? Any chinchilla available for adoption is also available for foster!
Fostering for our rescue is one the best things that you can do to help us out. Very often we are contacted by people who need to surrender chinchillas to us for one reason or another. Many times we have to turn these individuals away because we don't have any available space. As a foster, you will be taking in a chinchilla from us and taking on the responsibility of caring for him/her so that we are able to bring more chinchillas into the rescue who are in need. The chinchilla(s) you foster will still be available for adoption to people who are interested, you will just be giving them a temporary home until they are able to find a forever one.
The chinchillas pictured below are "special needs." This means that they have come to us with various medical issues (mainly dental-related problems) and are unlikely to be adopted. These chinchillas are stable and as such, are able to live with foster families. However, these guys require a little bit more effort as they need occasional vet visits. If you chose to foster a "special needs" chinchilla, it will be your responsibility to bring him/her to the Monty's Place vet but - good news - you will not be responsible for the bill! Monty's Place will take full responsibility for any medical treatment related to the chinchilla's pre-existing condition. Of course, our "special needs" chinchillas are available for adoption and are just as lovable and wonderful as any of our other chins. If you grow attached to one of these little ones, we would certainly understand!
If you choose to foster one of our chinchillas you will be required to complete our foster application. Monty's Place will provide you with a basic set up to start off and we will be responsible for all well exams with the Monty's Place vet. All outside expenses will be the responsibility of the foster.
There is no charge to foster one of our chinchillas. However, if you decide (and we certainly hope that you do) to adopt your fostered chinchilla, there will be an adoption fee, which will assist our rescue.
As always, if you have any questions about our fostering process or if you're interested in fostering, please feel free to contact us!
