My name is Renee - I created Monty's Place to service the needs of abused, exploited or neglected chinchillas. Monty's Place is designed to rescue chinchillas from bad situations, i.e., neglectful or lax pet shops, abandonment circumstances, abusive owner situations, etc.
Here at Monty's Place we do our best to help every chinchilla that comes through our door in the best way possible. We provide our chins with a good, safe home and medical care; our goal being rehabilitation and adoption.
You can help us here at Monty's Place! We are located on Long Island in Nassau County. If you live in the New York or surrounding area and you know of a chinchilla in a bad situation or you HAVE a chinchilla who you just can't take care of, please notify us! We will be happy to assist in any way possible.
Like to adopt one of our rescued chins? Sure! Without rescues we can't have adoptions, so if you see a chin who's being neglected or abused, please don't turn your back. That chin could have the opportunity to lead a very happy life with the right person. Feel free to inquire as to the availability of our chins.

We are sorry if this causes a great inconvienience, but our rescue is currently working with some very special needs chinchillas and will be unable to take in any more rescues (unless exceedingly emergent) until further notice. We will still be available for any questions you may have or any assistance that you may need and we still have chinchillas available for adoption. Monty's Place Updates
03/24/08 - Yes, ladies and gentlemen! We FINALLY have a online store for Monty's Place! <shouts and applause> We have opened our eBay store which is lovingly called, Monty's Place Chin Bin. The store is brand new and has no listed items yet. We should have some gear listed on the store by the end of the week. We will be selling various items such as chinchilla hammocks, houses, ledges and toys. We will also be selling tee-shirts and sweatshirts for our Monty's Place supporters as well as some other hand-made gifts which will help us to raise money for the rescue. Feel free to click on the link on The Chin Bin Shop page and take a look at our store. We're very excited to be up and running in this capacity, considering that we've been promising something like this for a long time. Remember to check back for listings by the end of the week!
03/13/08 - We would like to take the opportunity today to thank Erika for her very generous PayPal donation! We are sorry that this shout-out is a bit late and we would like to stress that it in no way takes away from our appreciation! Erika, your donation will be going to an outstanding medical bill for Lily and Pony-- two of the medical cases we are taking care of here at the rescue. Your support means so much to us-- we can't thank you enough!
On a less plesant note, we are sorry to report that once again we have had to put up our referral posting as we are full here at Monty's Place and cannot take in any more chinchillas until further notice. Right before I got married (02/17/08) we were contacted by a shelter in New Jersey who had come into the custody of two chinchillas. Well, the two chinchillas came here and very quickly became five chinchillas! Yup, the pair were male and female and the little female was as pregnant as could be! While I was away on my honeymoon, she gave birth to three babies, one of whom, unfortunately and sadly, passed away. The two remaining kits are growing quickly and once they are weened, they will be available for adoption. Unfortunately, this extended family is taking up whatever extra space we had here at the rescue and unless the situation is exeedingly emergent, we will be unable to take in any surrenders until further notice. We thank you for your understanding!
01/20/08 - This week we would like to take the opportunity to thank Keyda for her very kind donation to the Monty's Place Rescue! We would also like to thank Bubbles' new family for their kind donation to the Monty's Place fund at Veterinary Medical Center in West Islip! Donations mean so much to us here-- we are humbled by the kindness of our friends.
01/01/08 - HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! We hope that this new year brings love, peace and happiness to all the visitors of Monty's Place.
Our appoligies for the delay in updates, things have been a little crazy here at the rescue. I have been out of work since October 1st and Kristy got married last month. We are also working up to my own wedding in February and with the holidays we've been running around on the proverbiall flying saucer. 
We have also been taking care of some serious medical cases here at the rescue, one of whom, after quite a struggle, lost his fight for life just after Christmas. We thank everyone for their prayers and kind words during Ash's fight-- it means a lot to us.
On a lighter and more happy note, we have been working on making hammacks and other chinny goodies and we hope to have our online store open soon. I know that I've been promising this since last year, but I'm certain-- 2008 is the year that it's going to happen! Keep an eye out for new things coming soon!
ATTENTION GOOD HEARTED PEOPLE OF THE CHINCHILLA WORLD! Monty's Place is looking for donations! Specifically we are looking for used flying saucers, chin spins, Ed wheels, or Leo Braun wheels. We are also looking for ceramic bowls, water bottles, Carefresh bedding, straw mats, Oxbow feed products and cages. If you are holding on to any of these items or if you would be interested in picking up one of these items the next time you're at the pet store and would be interested in donating, please contact us. Unfortunately, we are not non-for-profit, so you cannot write off these donations on your taxes. The best we can do is give you a huge THANK YOU and a shout out on the website.

03/24/08 - We have a new page on the website. It is called, The Chin Bin Shop and it will direct you to our brand new eBay store. We will be selling various chinchilla supplies and gifts from here and encourage our visitors to check it out.
01/30/08 - We now have a PayPal donation button here on our website! You can now donate with confidence using the most trusted monetary exchange site on the internet. We thank everyone who has encouraged us to enable this option and thank all of our supporters in advance for their generous contributions.

12/24/06 - Oxbow has given us the go ahead to add their logo to our website. We are flattered! Oxbow produces a great product; we recommend them for all people who have cavvy's in their lives.
